Wear it Festive for St Barnabas House’s

Following the success of the ‘Wear It Festive’ fundraising campaign in 2016, St Barnabas House is once again inviting local businesses, schools and individuals to hold a fundraising event, to help raise vital money for local hospice care services and to pay for Christmas Day.

Local companies, schools and individuals are being asked to don a pair of antlers, some tinsel, a silly festive knit or a full Santa suit for one day to help raise vital funds to pay for the care services offered to patients and their families by St Barnabas House.

The Worthing-based hospice, St Barnabas House, is hoping that the Wear It Festive campaign will raise all the money for their Christmas Day services; which are provided free of charge to patients and their families both at the House and in their
own homes, for adults with advanced progressive life-limiting conditions. The total cost for all the services on Christmas Day is £16,793.

Wear it Festive will take place on Friday 15 December, or it’s possible to pick any date in December.

A pack can be sent out with fundraising ideas by registering at
www.stbh.org.uk/wearitfestive and just some of the fun and entertaining events that could be held include an ‘Office Winter Games’ where participants can win a medal for Speed Skating, Chair Curling, Reindeer Targets, Mini Ice-Hockey or the Snowball
Toss! Alternatively people can take part in ‘Share a Card’ and instead of sending individual cards at the office or at school, everyone can sign a big Christmas card supplied by St Barnabas and donate the money saved.

Zoe and Alan Fry, owner and manager of Valerie Manor, who took part in Wear It Festive in 2016, have signed up again this year and are having their Wear It Festive day on 18 December to mark their first wedding anniversary. They said, “We have supported St Barnabas for the last 7 years. We like taking part in Wear It
Festive as it gets all of the residents, staff and visitors involved – we really do enjoy it and hope that other businesses in our area will do the same. We have chosen to do our Wear It Festive Day on Monday 18th December as this day is our first wedding anniversary and we will be holding a carol service as part of the celebrations too.

Wendy Bardsley, Community Fundraising Manager for St Barnabas House, said:
“The money raised from fundraising events held by local businesses like Valerie Manor and schools and individuals is invaluable to St Barnabas House and it’s great to know that they’re having so much fun whilst doing it!”
