UK Run Events, the events channel of #UKRunChat and organisers of The Running Festival at Goodwood, have confirmed that a Family Lap will take place at the event on Sunday 14th October 2018.

The Family Lap will be open to young runners aged between 4-16 years and will cover one lap, or 2.4 miles, of the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit. The youngsters will be cheered on by family and friends in the grandstand and enjoy a full finish experience before being awarded with their unique finisher’s medal.

All young runners under the age of 11 will need to be accompanied by an adult, who will also receive a medal for completing the race, while those aged 11-16 can run unaccompanied. There will be an enclosed repatriation area and huge support for all participants, making this a great way for young runners to experience the thrill of a big sporting event and a celebratory day of running for all ages and abilities.

The Running Festival at Goodwood already includes a 10K and a Half Marathon – covering 2.5 and 5.5 laps respectively – and is set to become one of the most iconic events in the UK race calendar. Home to the world-famous Festival of Speed, Goodwood Revival and Qatar Goodwood Festival, Goodwood is certainly a picturesque and thrilling venue for this highly anticipated new event on the UK run scene. It is set to appeal both to motor sport fans wanting to race on the smooth tarmac of this classic circuit as well as to those wishing to simply enjoy the experience of running at this quintessential English estate.

Of particular excitement for the UK’s runners will be the presence of many running communities including UKRunChat and Run Mummy Run. UK Run Events very much believes in strong community spirit and all those taking part at The Running Festival at Goodwood can look forward to immense runner support and encouragement. Run Mummy Run even has its own wave of runners in the 10K and Half Marathon, and the whole day will make for a glorious end-of-season celebration for the entire running community.

Places for the Family Lap are expected to be snapped up by families who have adults taking part in the 10K and Half Marathon as well as by local children wishing to be a part of this exciting new event in Sussex. It is also a great chance for adults new to running to get active with their children and enjoy the chance to run and earn a medal together.
