Actors wanted – Auditions for Winning the Peace in Hurstpierpoint

This year is the centenary of the signing of the armistice ending the First World War. The details of this were decided at a meeting of the War Cabinet at Danny Park, in Hurstpierpoint in October 1918.

To mark this momentous event, Hurst Festival has commissioned a play, Winning the Peace, by local playwright, Kevin Carey. The world premiere will be performed at The Players Theatre in Hurstpierpoint from 24th September.

They are looking for actors to take part in this amateur production.

The cast consists of four females (youngest in her late teens, oldest over 45) and 17 men of various ages, these include a young soldier, an airman and a sailor as well as the Prime Minister David Lloyd George, Winston Churchill, Andrew Bonar Law, Arthur Balfour and other members of the War Cabinet.

The parts vary in size, from the fairly large part of David Lloyd George to smaller parts of just a few lines – ideal for those with enthusiasm but not much experience.

Bob Sampson is directing the play and is holding auditions on June 12th and 14th at 8pm in the Players Theatre, High Street Hurstpierpoint.

Those interested in being part of this exciting project are invited to contact the director at sampson.bob@gmail.com or just turn up for the auditions – no special preparation needed as we will just be reading from the script.  If you can’t make either audition but wish to take part, please contact Bob.

The play will be on for four performances during the Hurst Festival, at 8pm September 24th, 26th and 28th, with a matinée at 2.30pm on Sunday 30th.
