I have noticed how most people generally know what they need to do to create a happier healthier lifestyle, but often they don’t seem to be able to achieve it (or feel they can’t or even find it too hard).
I am not a great philosopher but Ralph Waldo Emerson did once say, ‘one ounce of action is greater than one ton of theory’. Sadly these days more and more people are suffering with stress related problems from anxiety to addiction and we are saturated from the Internet with every type of solution.
So what’s the answer? Well the simplest way to move from one place to another is to do a small different action that works toward your goal, breaking things down into bite size more manageable tasks is always helpful.
But the bottom line is we must DO an action to change the situation. My suggestion also would be to get help if you can’t seem to get motivated and move forward. Don’t be ashamed to ask for help from people you can trust, maybe your friends, your Doctor or Nurse, or even get a Coach so they can support and help you.
Remember the ONLY person you can change is yourself and you need to honour the commitments you say you are going to do (regardless of how you feel), otherwise you will just keep going round the same mountain!
When we hold ourselves accountable, honour our commitments and persevere, we gain a sense of self-respect and can achieve almost anything.
There is also so much more focus now on the benefits of self care, the NHS actually has a website that looks at how to prevent illness as well as identify what stresses we need to be avoid that cause us long term illness. So why not make the time to do a little something different today that will make a life long healthier you!
